I have enjoyed some great times at Cranmer Primary School. My NQT mentor has supported me every step of the way and without the backing of Cranmer’s friendly, experienced and down to earth staff I would have not have made it through my NQT year. As a teacher at Cranmer, I am encouraged to nurture each and every child’s personality and supports them to believe and achieve in everything they do. The Cranmer community is very strong. I have been supported by teachers with a wealth of experience and knowledge. As an NQT there have been situations that I have found challenging to deal with independently. But I have had the support of my mentor to help guide me through these situations successfully. I have learnt a great deal in my NQT year and feel confident I can apply this next year as a fully qualified teacher.

An article from one of our teachers on the recent Wellbeing Day 2017:

On the 30th March, we held our inaugural wellbeing day at Cranmer.  Various pieces of research, published over the past few years, support the suggestion that happy and contented staff produce happy and contented pupils. This leads to optimum outcomes, from exam results to mental health.

At Cranmer, we understand that looking after ourselves and our colleagues should be our priority. Embedding staff wellbeing throughout our school has helped to make it part of the fabric of the institution for the benefit of everyone, staff and pupils alike.

Our wellbeing day consisted of all staff being allocated two slots where we experienced Reiki, Henna, Tai Chi, life coaching, cake decorating and much more. Sessions were provided by both external practitioners and Cranmer staff.  

Everyone who participated felt refreshed, relaxed and rejuvenated; it reminded us all of how privileged we are to work in the fantastic Cranmer community.

Trust:

We trust all of our teachers and support staff to be forward thinking practitioners, always striving for improvement in their lives and have the well-being of the children at the heart of their actions. 

Staff put their trust in the leadership of the school to develop its team professionally and holistically. We are fortunate to have well being days and an extensive new teacher and NQT induction programme.

 Respect:

Cranmer's golden rule is: to work hard and be respectful every day; to believe and achieve that's the Cranmer way. This rule was created by the children and is something that all staff and children adhere to. 

We respect that everyone has something to teach and share with our community and this is paramount to the relationships that adults have with the children they teach and the colleagues they work with. 

 

Resilience:

Resilience is a quality instilled in all staff and pupils at Cranmer Primary School. We promote a Growth Mindset (Dweck, Carol S.. (2008) Mindset : the new psychology of success New York: Ballantine Books,) in all aspects of school life. 

Children are taught to work collaboratively, and with a "can do attitude" in all aspects of the curriculum.
